New Cans Coming

WE ARE SLOWLY ROLLING OUT NEW CANS

When we roll these out, we will take ALL old cans. Each can will have a serial number and it will be logged into the location. If you decide you want an extra can or less cans, please call or email City Hall and we will put a workorder in for you and update your account.

PRICING July 1, 2025-June 30, 2026

INSIDE CITY LIMITS--BILLED MONTHLY

$15 FOR REGULAR CANS

$25 FOR TWO CANS

$35 FOR THREE CANS ETC.

OUTSIDE CITY LIMITS--BILLED QUARTERLY

(regardless of when account was opened, bills go out in March, June, September, and December)

$65 FOR ONE CAN

$100 FOR TWO CANS

POLICY

It is City Policy that all refuse must be in a HIGH SHOALS can. Our workers are NOT permitted to pick up cans that do not have the City of High Shoals logo

If there is repeatedly excessive trash, we will ask that you obtain another trash can to hold your waste. The city workers have been told to not pick up bags that aren't inside of a High Shoals Trash Can. We are charged by the county per weight. This is how sanitation fees are calculated. 

       1. Due to the volume of requests, work orders for brush pickup are handled in the order that they are received. When possible, brush pickup will take place within three (3) business days of receipt of the workorder. If not possible to attend to within 3 days, brush will be collected as soon as possible.

      2. Brush will only be collected if it is left on the curb with all cut ends turned toward the street.

      3. No brush from commerical tree trimming companies will be accepted nor any brush from out of town.

      4. Limbs should be no larger than three (3) inches in diameter and the entire brush pile should be no longer than five (5) foot wide by five (5) foot tall by twelve (12) feet long. Tree trunks, logs, stumps will NOT be collected and must be separated out from the brush to be collected.

      5. If brush pile is larger than standard requirements there will be a minimum charge of $150 per trip.

                                     White Good & Large Item Pickup

      6. White goods and large item pickups are collected on the first Monday of the month.

      7. White goods are large items will only be collected if they are left on the curb. The CITY WILL NOT collect any electronics, building materials, automobile parts, nor hazardous materials. The City will post on the City's Sign and or City's website when the County has a hazardous materials pickup day, which the resident must take to the drop off location--Biggerstaff Park in Dallas, NC. 

                       Effective May 13, 2025:  All City Customers will receive 6 free pickups (including brush pile, white goods, and large item pickups) per calendar year, unless the brush pile is larger than the standard requirements. After the 6 free pickups, there will be a charge of $30.00 per pick-up workorder.  All fees not paid in advance will be added to the next bill. 

                                             DEAD ANIMAL PICKUP

     8. When possible, dead animal pickup will take place on the same working day as the receipt of the workorder. If it isn't possible to attend that day, the pickup will be carried out on the next working day. The City Clerk will NO LONGER go out to remove dead animals. Only pets and wildlife will be collected and only if laying on the road or the right-of-way. We are not allowed to remove animals from your property. No commerical animals such as hogs or cattle will be collected.
